Viewing CJK and Other Non-Roman Scripts in the Catalog:
A limited number of non-Roman alphabet scripts are viewable in the library catalog. You may search and view records in Chinese, Japanese and Korean scripts (CJK) and some recently added records with Arabic and Hebrew script. Depending on your computer's capabilities, you can choose either:
In order to view CJK, Arabic, and Hebrew scripts in
the catalog, you need to EITHER:
- use a computer with built-in CJK, Arabic, and Hebrew fonts (e.g. Windows 2000, XP). Unicode Display: with Internet Explorer 5 and above, please turn on the Unicode character set by choosing "View," then "Encoding" and select "Unicode UTF-8."
- OR, install a CJK language software on your computer, e.g. NJStar, RichWIN or other software which can display Big5; or WinMASS software which can display EACC/CCCII codes.
To increase the size of the vernacular (Arabic and Hebrew) script, follow your browser's instructions for changing fonts.
